#20 Raticate

For the few who actually used Ratatta, they evolved it into a Raticate at lv.20 and JESUS CHRIST HYPER FANG. How is this attack SO strong in the original game? Dude you KNOW you had trouble with that one Team Rocket member in Mt. Moon who had the Raticate that spammed Hyper Fang at you. You know you did.

#19 Ratatta

Oh Ratatta, you are so useless. Nobody used you. Go away.

#18 Pidgeot

Pidgeot had such a terrible sprite back in this game. This did not stop it from being one of the most popular endgame Pokemon ever aside from starter Pokemon however! Seriously, who DIDN'T have a Pidgeot in their party when they faced down the Elite Four?

#17 Pidgeotto

I never got why Ash caught a Pidgeotto as one of his first Pokemon. Whatever happened to that thing anyway? I remember him catching it and to my memory, NEVER SEEING IT AGAIN. Man they show his Tauros ranch more than they showed this Pidgeotto.

#16 Pidgey

Everybody who ever caught a Pidgey ever kept that little guy in their team throughout THE ENTIRETY OF THE GAME. Don't even lie. You know you did.

#15 Beedrill

Beedrill was perhaps my favorite Pokemon on my team whenever I played through the game a few years ago. Well, up to a point anyway. There is always that point where Bug type Pokemon become totally useless. 'Tis a sad tale.

#14 Kakuna

Kakuna was so much cooler than Metapod, but what isn't?

#13 Weedle

Weedle is great. Weedle is probably the first Pokemon you will catch that is capable of using a Poison attack (unless you got Nidoran(Male or female)). Let it be known now that I love Poison and Bug type Pokemon! So of course I am going to enjoy Weedle~

#12 Butterfree

Butterfree is so important to a player in the first stages of a Pokemon game. Not only is it probably the first third stage evolution you will reach, but it has one of the first psychic attacks any of your Pokemon will learn in the game. Confusion was so useful in the early stages of the game. Butterfree for life~

#11 Metapod

God, never catch a Metapod. I repeat, NEVER CATCH A METAPOD. Always evolve a Caterpie into a Metapod. Otherwise you will be stuck with a one trick pony that is incapable of doing anything but making it's defense go up. Metapod is so a useless Pokemon, evolve it to Butterfree as soon as you can.

#10 Caterpie

Caterpie is one of the two Pokemon that I would say most people catch almost immediately after they gain the ability to catch Pokemon. I mean, it's one of the few in sight at first, ya know? I mean, heck, Caterpie was Ash's first Pokemon he ever caught! That set the stage for this little bugger to be popular~

#9 Blastoise

Man, remember when you were a kid and you saw Blastoise on the Blue box and cartridge? He looked SO amazing and rad. But dude, once you got your Wartortle up to a high enough level and it starts to evolve, you get sorely disappointed. You expect this super rad rocket turtle, instead you get this fat slob. The later sprites are much better though!

#8 Wartortle

I really can't think of anything amazing or fascinating to say about Wartortle. I like the way he looks, that is about it. Um.. My friend Max doesn't like Wartortle much? Whatever~

#7 Squirtle

Squirtle is definitely the cutest of the three first generation starters, and he really takes out the first gym super fast, but he does not compare to the greatness of a starter that is Bulbasaur. In the anime, Squirtle is the coolest thing ever. Those shades, man~

#6 Charizard

Yes, I realize that Charizard was a rad Pokemon to face the Elite Four with. But jeez, that Card. The Charizard Pokemon Card was the most sought after thing in the card game era. But why? It's not like it's useful. The Charizard card's only attack takes up EVERY ENERGY CARD IN YOUR DECK. Then throws them all away. I didn't get it. Why would you want this?

#5 Charmeleon

Man what was Charmeleon's problem when he evolved? Ash was so nice to him and even saved him from dying out in the rain, then he evolves and basically sets Ash on fire every time he comes out of his Pokeball! Another reason why Charmander is the worst 1st gen starter
