#20 Raticate
For the few who actually used Ratatta, they evolved it into a Raticate at lv.20 and JESUS CHRIST HYPER FANG. How is this attack SO strong in the original game? Dude you KNOW you had trouble with that one Team Rocket member in Mt. Moon who had the Raticate that spammed Hyper Fang at you. You know you did.

#12 Butterfree
Butterfree is so important to a player in the first stages of a Pokemon game. Not only is it probably the first third stage evolution you will reach, but it has one of the first psychic attacks any of your Pokemon will learn in the game. Confusion was so useful in the early stages of the game. Butterfree for life~

#10 Caterpie
Caterpie is one of the two Pokemon that I would say most people catch almost immediately after they gain the ability to catch Pokemon. I mean, it's one of the few in sight at first, ya know? I mean, heck, Caterpie was Ash's first Pokemon he ever caught! That set the stage for this little bugger to be popular~
#9 Blastoise
Man, remember when you were a kid and you saw Blastoise on the Blue box and cartridge? He looked SO amazing and rad. But dude, once you got your Wartortle up to a high enough level and it starts to evolve, you get sorely disappointed. You expect this super rad rocket turtle, instead you get this fat slob. The later sprites are much better though!

#6 Charizard
Yes, I realize that Charizard was a rad Pokemon to face the Elite Four with. But jeez, that Card. The Charizard Pokemon Card was the most sought after thing in the card game era. But why? It's not like it's useful. The Charizard card's only attack takes up EVERY ENERGY CARD IN YOUR DECK. Then throws them all away. I didn't get it. Why would you want this?
